Is FREE really FREE?
This page is the main motivation, why I kept refusing to become member of SABAM, the artist rights organization in Belgium, to sign away my rights and freedom of my creations. They cannot accept any exceptions for the creation and distribution of free works, Creative Commons and choose own ways of promotion without a tax being paid. My choice to not join this organization was well-calculated and thought about.

If I would be member, I would not have this possibility, to distribute all these free goodies without paying a tax each one of ‘m.
Any music, is part of our culture and should not be restricted!
An artist should remain free to choose for its own creations and future.
Our culture is being modeled like plastic by people which we probably don’t even know, often with a total different agenda in mind instead of passion and fire for music. This industry defines with its monopoly backed by the government, where culture belongs to them as property. This century is perhaps the most restricted society ever, with least benefits for the artist and the most for the organization between. The motivation to create music may have a different drive for every artist and could be done for fun, to grow experience by overcoming challenges and to expand the boundaries of the unexpected; without treating it as “capital”, but instead treating it as REAL “culture”.
The music industry is stuck in the past, where vinyl was the only reason to live and distribution had to be done by only a few. This all changed with the gigantic leap into the new technological era; where the Internet happens to be a catalyst offering a dozen new ways to distribute music without physical need. If the industry would open its mind, accept society as it is and relax the conditions to let artists run their lives; a lot more artworks would be introduced, most probably creating a culture shock of all new and alternative media getting available from artists which you might never have heard about before.

We risk to loose our past, by forcing our present.
Secure the future, by retaining the treasures of the past; which is only possible when we take care of the present!
There is so much of music and evolving styles to discover, create and recreate. Imagine we had no opportunity to know Jazz, Rock or Disco because it was chosen not to be part of “our culture”. We would not have evolved to the possibilities of producing and would never have discovered all those golden tracks of true icons which makes our current selection of music available look pathetic. It would be a real shame for our generations to come, to discover most of the 21th century musical culture has been permanently lost, leaving only a small fraction of the wonders hidden away around the world. The choice of an artist is often motivated by the true drive and determination towards succes. The drive is not always evolving around sales and statistics.
Music is the most transparant way of communication, without color or boundaries, part of our daily lives through celebrations and joy for centuries long.
Let us all be part of our culture and allow to share our talents, instead of culture becoming part to one without possibility to “know” everything about music.
Live long and prosper!
Freaking Wildchild.
